off mundane desires and attain liberation.

Failing to see that life is just like a bubble, one is oblivious of the imminence of death.

2 J7 \2 Z# W( ^( ]' `9 XFailing to see fame and wealth as illusions, one covets prestige and is ensnared in profit making.
6 z# I7 d$ a/ H" d9 m6 \! }0 rBeing respectfully regarded as supreme, yet one still succumbs to the eight worldly concerns.
+ x& M1 v2 B+ A; C% L$ r7 P, z; wStriving to do good deeds without first renouncing the corporeal body, one inevitably heads to
: f. e1 ~/ v+ h6 y9 \4 ufuture lives empty-handed.
! I. e1 C5 y( |- L: oHow downright miserable is this bleak prospect!6 D! N* h. H, v0 G" N. U* Y
Unaware of the defects of samsara, one craves worldly enjoyment untiringly. E' ^9 p. A- q2 ?8 Q
Prattling hollow words all the time, one is nothing but a deceitful hypocrite.

When they die, there is no guarantee to avoid lower realms, so become weary to samsara,
% q5 S! a/ l. j$ E$ n. K. [& |& X读到这些言教,联想到自己一生中虽然表面行善,但仔细观察,归根结底往往是为了自己) Z) Z. U, c5 q( y9 T
今生的利益。为众生、为来世的成分究竟有多少,没有很大把握。前辈大德们的高尚心行真令人羡慕。$ b5 n& i) F, `! U$ d; R, G

been devoted to others or to future lives. How I admire the high realization and conduct of the 9 @$ M. `% `% R
accomplished sages!
' X+ K$ b$ o1 K3 N与其临渊羡鱼,不如退而结网。从现在做起,也许还不是很晚。
" C' ~9 e5 r( I9 e( x. [* M8 fThe adage goes: “Instead of wasting time longing for the fish by the pond, it’s better to go back $ x8 ]+ F K/ e1 C
and prepare fishing nets.” I may as well take actions from now on; perhaps it’s still not too late!# P: R! P8 s' `2 c
